When World War II started in 1941 the government claimed the family's property and they moved their garage to its present location in Edison, New Jersey. Steve enlisted in the Marines Corps in 1943 and was stationed in the Pacific. He survived three landings, Iwo Jima, Saipan and Tinian. Back home Steve's older brothers kept the company running as they transported defense workers to the Raritan Arsenal and moved soldiers from Camp Kilmer and Newark airport. The older Yelencsics brothers sold the business during the war to Rossmeyer & Weber.
When Steve returned home from the war in 1946 he took Rose Klitsch to be his wife and together in 1948 they purchased the bus company back from Rossmeyer & Weber along with the ICC rights and renamed the company Raritan Valley Bus Service!
Joined by his sons, Steve Jr. and John in 1973 and 1978 respectively, The Yelencsics family has grown Raritan Valley Bus Service to a fleet of twenty deluxe motorcoaches providing unparalleled quality service for all your charter needs. We invite you to come down and see our state of the art maintenance facility and take an up close look at any of our charter coaches!
